Integrative Therapy
Little Company of Mary Hospital recognizes the importance of taking a holistic approach to health and healing. Our commitment to treating the whole person, mind, body and spirit, is evident through the comprehensive set of Integrative Therapy services offered to cancer patients and their families.
The mission of the Integrative Therapy department is to provide patients with support and programming that will allow them to experience a high quality of life throughout their cancer journey. Making these services available to patients encourages them to take control of their health by becoming active partners in their treatment planning. Each patient has the ability to personalize their care by complimenting the conventional medical treatments they are receiving with any number of services the Integrative Therapy department offers.
Programs offered by the Integrative Therapy department include:
- Art Classes
- Yoga
- Tai Chi
- Guided Imagery
- Nutritional Support
- Mini spa services
- Healing Touch
- Educational programs with guest speakers
- Breast Cancer support group
- Prostate cancer support group
- Hypnosis
All programs are provided free of charge.
Integrative therapy interventions have been shown to help patients reduce their levels of stress and fear regarding their diagnosis or treatment. There is also a growing body of evidence to support that integrative therapy services decrease a patient's discomfort from disease-related symptoms, reduce side effects from their treatment, help them to more effectively manage their pain, shorten recovery time, strengthen their immune system, and provide an overall improvement in the patient's quality of life.
